The Quest for Truth

I give no credence to those who think they are on a quest for Truth.

  1. I give no credence to those who think they are on a quest for Truth.
  2. In my experience of humankind, new truths are considered dangerous
  3. And are called, at first, ‘untrue’.
  4. People seek further confirmation of their beliefs, nothing more:
  5. Seeking decorations for a home long built.
  6. The truths they do not know are in a wilderness, beyond the garden.
  7. The wilderness is beautiful to think of, but no one lives there.
  8. There is only here for us, our home, the notions that give us shelter, a place to live.
  9. To discover a new truth, and to accept it, is to risk everything.
  10. It will mean you must stand alone.
  11. No, that is not what you seek.
  12. You do not want that.
  13. Only those with curiosity, as Mr Spock would say, insatiable curiosity, can find new truths.
  14. They climb over the garden fence, to see what’s there; just to look.
  15. And when they climb back over, they may find their house, and all the houses, look unreal.
  16. Houses made of paper, nothing more.
  17. And then they may find: they have nowhere to live.
  18. Be careful what you wish for.
